The app says I don't have a subscription
Short answer: Open the plans screen in the Guardian app and tap Restore purchases. If it says Nothing to restore, your subscription is on a different Apple or Google account: sign in with that account on this phone and try again.
Updated
This usually happens on a new phone, or after signing in with a different account.
Steps
- Open the plans screen. In the Guardian app, tap Start free trial, See plans, Renew subscription, or any feature that needs a subscription.
- Tap Restore purchases under the main button.
- Wait a moment. If the subscription is found, the plans screen closes and everything works again.
If it says “Nothing to restore”
The app couldn’t find an active subscription on the Apple or Google account this phone uses. Check:
- Is it the same store account? If you subscribed with a different Apple ID or Google account, sign in with that account on this phone, then tap Restore purchases again.
- Is the subscription still active? Look in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. If it has ended, see What happens when your trial or subscription ends.
- Is it the same TVCP account? Sign in to the Guardian app with the email or login you used when you set TVCP up.
If it says “We couldn’t confirm your purchase”
This can appear right after you buy or change a plan. Tap Restore purchases, which usually fixes it. If the app then says We still couldn’t confirm your purchase, tap Contact support and we’ll look into it.

New phone or lost phone
Your settings and TVs are stored with your account, not on your phone. Sign in on another phone to carry on.
What happens when your trial or subscription ends
Which controls need a subscription, what stays free, and how to renew. Unlocking the TV is always free.
Cancel your subscription, and refunds
You subscribe through Apple or Google, so you cancel there. Here are the steps, and where to ask for a refund.
