# Update the TVCP app on your TV

On the TV, open the Play Store, search for TVCP and choose Update. Or, from your phone, open the TVCP TV app on Google Play, pick your TV from the device list, and Google Play sends the update to it. Your settings and protections are kept.

The Guardian app tells you when a TV needs an update: you'll see **Update available** next to the TV, and some features say **Update Required** until it's done. Tap it to open **Update your TV app**, which shows both ways below.

## On the TV

1. **Open the Play Store** on the TV.
2. **Search for TVCP.**
3. **Choose Update.**

## From your phone

1. **Open the [TVCP TV app on Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.middlepoint.tvcp)** (in the Guardian app, **Open Google Play** takes you there).
2. **Sign in with the same Google account** that the TV uses, if you aren't already.
3. **Pick your TV from the device list.** Google Play sends the update to it.

## Good to know

- Your settings and protections are kept when the app updates.
- After the update, open TVCP on the TV once. This makes sure it's running again.
- If you have several TVs, the Guardian app shows how many need an update, with **Update now**.
